Each year, during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, the Muslim world celebrates the blessed month of Ramadan. For thirty days we commit ourselves to completing the reading of our entire Holy Qur'an, by reading the parts outlined for us the Holy Book. We also commit ourselves to completing our 5 daily prayers at the prescribed time, beginning the early morning prayer called Fajr and end with the Isha prayer in the late evening.
From sunrise til sunset, we spend the daylight hours in complete fast---- abstaining from food, drink, physical intimacy with our spouses. We fast to do away with our bad habits, as well as sinful and negative thoughts. We strive to make peace with those we have wronged. We re-evaluate our lives and work to change the things that are not pleasing to Allah (God).
We commit to focusing our attention building strong family units and coming into complete submission to the Will of Allah (God).
As this Ramadan comes to a close on Saturday, September 19, 2009, we want to take what we have been blessed to experience of peace, serenity, and the gift of a "NEW BEGINNING" to transform our lives into what Allah (God) and we will be pleased with.
May Allah bless us with a complete transformation.
