Denny’s to make $100,000 donation to NAACP (261 hits)
Denny’s, the popular restaurant chain, will present a $100,000 check in celebration of their commitment to diversity on Thursday at the NAACP Convention in New York. The check compliments Denny’s dedication to building strong families, promoting community service and advancing educational opportunities. “It is our honor to support the valuable mission of the NAACP and their continuing efforts to raise broad awareness of the value of a truly inclusive society,” Denny’s said in a statement.
“At Denny’s we are committed to education and helping individuals from diverse backgrounds achieve academic success during their educational pursuits,” the statement said. “We believe that education represents the path to a better life for all people and for all communities.”
Denny’s will also serve as the lead sponsor of the NAACP’s youth achievement programs, which will impact nearly 50,000 youth per year throughout the country. Denny’s officials said the donation is a reflection of Denny’s continued support of the NAACP’s commitment to help government and business leaders understand how people working together can ensure social justice and build a great nation for everyone.
Radio host Tom Joyner assisted Denny's with a three-year campaign to raise money for the National Civil Rights Museum, which raised over $5 million. During the first year of the campaign, the NAACP partnered with Denny's to raise money for the National Civil Rights Museum at the NAACP Image Awards reception sponsored by Denny's.
If I recall, a few years ago Denny's was reported as having some issues with offering prompt serves to blacks. It's nice to know they are trying to remedy their once tainted reputation of their poor service to African Americans. The NAACP still is an outstanding focus in the communities of America.
