Equal Care Improves Cancer Survival Rates for Blacks; but Not in All Cases; As a Result, Some Suggest Black Biological Inferiority (Taylor Media Services) A first-of-its kind, 20,000-patient study has found that when they receive equal care African Americans survive cancer just as well as whites … in most cases. Equal care appeared to close the survival rate disparity between whites and Blacks for lung, colon and several other cancers. However, the gap persisted for prostate, breast and ovarian cancer.
The findings of Kathy Albain of Loyalty University were published online Tuesday by the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. She labeled the results “good news and puzzling news” explaining “When there is a level playing field with the same quality of care, African Americans survive just as well as other races … But for prostate, ovarian and breast cancers, its not access to care. There is something else. And we need to sort that out.”
However, some in the medical field have already jumped to imply that whites are somehow biologically superior to Blacks and that explains the better cancer survival rate among Caucasians. For example, on Wednesday, the Washington Post quoted University of Michigan professor Lisa Newman saying, “There seems to be something associated with racial and ethnic identity that seems to confer a worse survival rate for African Americans. I think it’s likely to be hereditary and genetic factors.”
But such a conclusion runs counter to the recently released Tishkoff Study [Sarah Tishkoff of the University of Pennsylvania.] which concluded that because people of African ancestry were the first to evolve and thus have been on the planet longer than other races, they have “the most diverse DNA and the fewest potentially harmful genetic mutations.”
{I know that many White people hold dear to their hearts, Charles Darwin's Theory " the Survival of the Fittest" for which is their hidden agenda for studying Black people in order to continue to keep Darwin's Theory alive {that White people are superior to Black people}. I will say it again; don't buy into all these silly research studies and statistics.}
