White House: Sotomayor says she chose word(s) poorly (329 hits)

AP - The White House says Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor acknowledges she made a poor word choice in a 2001 speech in which she said that a Latina judge would often reach a better conclusion than a white male judge who hasn't lived the same life.That's according to presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs. He says he has not talked directly to Sotomayor about it but has spoken to people who have. Critics have singled out the 2001 comment by Sotomayor for criticism. She was describing how personal experiences can affect judging. She said a "wise Latina woman" with her experiences would more often than not reach a "better conclusion" than a white male.

{If I must say so, I think she was taken out of context and if we look at her life's experiences---she would be able to relate better on issues affecting average everyday people...this is my 2 cents worth. YOU GO SISTER GIRL SOTOMAYOR!!}

You're right Crystal. What are the Republicans crying about since they still have the majority. There will still be 5-6 Caucasian judges depending on if you count Justice Clarence Thomas as white vs black. (((Lol))) Before Thurgood Marshall joined them (Supreme Court), they were all white. I hardly think one Latino woman is going to upset anything?! I'm just lying, I think she will add some sister flavor especially if she is anything like Marta Fernandez was! How I miss her! (((LOL)))
