The dangers out in the world and the fact that women are catching up with men by being the perpetrators (466 hits)
Is it me or does it seem more and more women are actually abusing, sometimes s*xually, children now more so than when we were growing up? I was reading about the woman who was recently arrested and charged with killing a little girl and putting the body in a suitcase. I know there are bad and crazy people out there and they were always there, but now across the board men and women are equally getting charged for things I could not imagine a woman who was also a mother would do. How do you tell if any one of them should never had children or be around them. Worse some were never like that and I wonder what would make them on that day wake up, knowing or not knowing they would endanger a child maybe their own.
I love that we have information at our finger tips and get the news practically a minute after a bullet has left a gun. It is just that you are more aware of things that maybe were there when we growing up we just didn't know it. It seems to me it happens more now than it did then. And would you say ignorance is bliss and want not to hear about all the bad things so you didn't worry? Because worrying causes us to preach to our children about the dangers out there. Each time it makes them have to grow up a little faster causing them to lose out on what we had when we were their age and would go out with no fear of being assaulted, snatched, raped, murdered, etc (we knew it sometimes happened but didn't think of it since we only heard it sporadically). Our world didn't include all the dangers, or so we thought, all we had to do was be a kid. Back then in a child's mind the parents would always protect them, kids have no clue Mom can't help if a guy in a van roles up on you in broad daylight and you are with your friends way across town.
For me personally bombarded with all the dangers, I would take them in a minute rather than not know so I can try my best to be sure my daughter and I know how to be as safe as possible (no one is 100% safe anywhere) out there. I never want to be the parent whose house a police car pulls up to to tell me my child died at the hands of some pedophile who was let out two weeks prior and lives 2 blocks over. And I don't wish it on anyone.
Just wanted to know your thoughts on that.
