VICTORIA'S SECRET IS KEEPING A TOXIC SECRET ABOUT THEIR BRAS!!! (275 hits)
As the s*xy lingerie giant prepares for the mega-fashion show, they are also preparing to defend themselves in a class-action lawsuit filed by a customer who claims she got ill from wearing their bras.
Roberta Ritter, 37, from Ohio reports "I had the welts that were very red, hot to the touch, extremely inflamed, blistery. It itched profusely. I couldn't sleep and was waking up itching." Shortly after the complaint her lawyers had the bras laboratory tested. They claim the tests revealed that the bras showed traces of formaldehyde, which is used in the textile industry to make fabrics crease-resistant.
One might be naturally prompted to ask, “Why on earth would companies need to use formaldehyde in the production of bras or other clothing?” Here are reasons: • Permanent press • Anti-cling, anti-static, anti-wrinkle, and anti-shrink • Waterproofing and stain resistance • Perspiration proof • Moth proof • Mildew resistance • Color-fastness
Although we all want easy care when it comes to our clothing….we cannot ignore that such comes with a price - A highly TOXIC price at that! Note some of the most common ones:
There’s evidence that some people can develop sensitivity to formaldehyde from repeated exposure, which can eventually become a serious health concern.
You can be exposed to the chemical both via off-gassing and direct contact with your skin. Formaldehyde has also been shown to cause cancer in animals, and may cause cancer in humans. Other common adverse health effects include:
• fatigue • skin rash (contact dermatitis) • severe allergic reactions • eye, nose, and throat irritation • wheezing and coughing
So what’s the take-home advice for women who love “Vickie’s” lingerie or other easy care apparel? We should not freak out and become a worry wart over this matter, but what we can do is limit the amount of time bras are worn to lessen the chances of a chemical cocktail seeping into your chest.
Studies show that over-all women who wear bras less often than not have a lower risk of breast cancer than women that do. The odds get even better for those who wear no bra at all.
Then there are organic varieties, which are now being offered by quite a few organic clothing manufacturers.
Lastly, this is yet another reason why it is so vital and now absolutely necessary to have a regular and consistent regimen of a total body cleansing program in place…the world is toxic and we cannot avoid that fact. Just protect yourself!
