Position Overview
KBR is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our team in delivering innovative and mission-critical enterprise hybrid cloud solutions to our customers. You will be part of a dynamic team working on mission-critical systems that process and archive remote sensing data. Youll gain hands-on experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle, collaborate with multidisciplinary experts, and contribute to projects with global impact. This is an opportunity to grow your technical skills while contributing to mission-critical systems that support global Earth observation and remote sensing programs.
Responsibilities
Support the migration of physical and on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud environments.
Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for provisioning, monitoring, auditing, and de-provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure using automation tools.
Work closely with solution architects and engineers to implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS cloud solutions.
Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools like GitLab Runners or similar.
Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
Support the configuration and automation of enterprise environments using tools like Ansible.
Troubleshoot and provide support for enterprise-based applications in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Identify and implement AWS cloud cost optimization strategies, incorporating FinOps principles where applicable.
Participate in ongoing modernization efforts, refactoring and enhancing enterprise workloads to leverage industry best practices.
Collaborate within teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and deliver incremental value through iterative development.
Required Skills/Experience
Must have three years of continuous residency in the U.S. (required for government security credential).
Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
Professional or Specialty certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Security Specialty, AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional).
Terraform Associate certification,
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices is a plus.
Special Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for government facility access.
Experience and/or education in lieu of these qualifications may be considered.
