POSITION OVERVIEW
The Membership Outreach & Engagement Organizer reports to the Director of Membership, Faith, & Strategic Partnerships. This role supports the Membership & External Affairs Department with the day-to-day activities of the department, particularly around membership outreach, engagement, customer relationships management, and organizing of FPWA member, policy, program, and campaign initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Recruitment, Engagement, & Retention
-Act as a liaison between FPWA and its members, serving as the first point of contact handling all questions and information requests regarding membership.
-Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan to grow and deepen FPWA’s relationship with our current member agencies and partner organizations and identify areas for collaboration.
-In collaboration with the Director, implement recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies to organize and mobilize members into sustained involvement in policy campaigns and advocacy efforts.
-Conduct one-to-one relational meetings to understand the capacity, strengths and needs of member organizations and strategic partners.
-Support membership and sector leadership development and deepen engagement through leadership pipelines, including advisory boards and borough-based councils, communities of practice, etc.
-Assess industry and programmatic trends, political conditions, organizing capacity, and power-building opportunities across member organizations as well as the sector to identify strategic opportunities for coordinated action.
-Manage efforts to expand membership of FPWA among community-based organizations, build FPWA member identity, and increase positioning of FPWA among the health and human services sector.
Programs, Advocacy & Campaign Engagement
-Work closely with member organizations to develop and advance campaign strategies that align with FPWA’s strategic objectives, while strengthening membership capacity, coordination, shared learning, and collective power across networks.
-Work closely with the Programs and Campaigns Teams within the Membership and External Affairs Department to achieve departmental goals, increase efficiency, and foster innovation to bolster and expand strategic impact.
-Engage in cross-departmental collaboration to achieve shared goals, increase efficiency, and foster innovation to bolster and expand strategic impact.
-Assist in developing shared narrative, strategy alignment, and political education focused on economic security and other issue areas.
-Plan and coordinate events and activities for existing and prospective members including monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings, networking events, advocacy days (city/state/federal), advisory board meetings, etc.
Organizing Systems, Member Coordination & Metrics
-Incorporate feedback from member agencies and those directly impacted by FPWA programs and advocacy in the design and implementation of FPWA programs and advocacy campaigns.
-Help identify and reduce barriers to member participation through logistical support and problem-solving.
-Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools such as Salesforce, MailChimp, GoFundMe Pro/Classy to manage and track all member data, outreach, participation, and organizing/advocacy outcomes.
-Ensure retention, annual renewal, and dues management processes are efficient, secured, and maintained while keeping the Operations and Finance Team informed.
-Support team accountability through clear metrics, goals, and follow-up systems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s Degree required
-3-4 years of relevant experience in community outreach and engagement, including direct experience working in or with human service agencies, community and/or faith-based institutions.
-Deep commitment to FPWA’s mission and to social justice, specifically in understanding the needs of low-income communities in New York and moving from poverty alleviation to economic security.
-Advocacy & Organizing: Demonstrated excellence in community organizing, campaign management, and mobilization at both grassroots and grasstops levels.
-Relationship Building: Strong ability to cultivate relationships, bridge build and influence stakeholders for policy and campaign success.
-Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to social justice and understanding the transition from poverty alleviation to economic security.
-Data-Driven: Proven ability to use data to manage outcomes and inform strategic decision-making.
-Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
-Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with database management systems (Salesforce, Salsa, etc.).
-Strategic Problem-Solver: A resourceful and creative thinker capable of applying critical analysis to achieve high-impact results in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
-Salary range: $71,000 minimum to $76,000 maximum, commensurate with experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
As part of building a culture where employs can do their best work, FPWA currently employs a hybrid model.
Work performed by this role is expected to happen in or near New York, NY given FPWA's work policies and practices. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment
