KBR (formerly LinQuest) is the prime contractor on the MSEIT contract. By applying to this position, you are in consideration for KBR employment. However, you also have the option to be hired by one of our subcontractor teammates.
KBR is seeking a Software Architect to join our team in El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO.
The Software Architect will work closely with the Principal Engineer to define the platforms overall design, reference architecture, and supporting demonstrators. This role demands broad technical depth and is well suited to someone experienced across the full stack of largescale, deployed systems who can make principled, highquality design decisions across diverse technologies.
The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the US Space Forces Space Systems Center (SSC). We support the Space Forces acquisition of state-of-the-art satellite communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nations warfighters. Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement highquality software while maintaining architectural integrity across the stack.
Lead architectural decisionmaking, setting technical direction and balancing key tradeoffs.
Own solutions endtoend, from design through deployment and longterm stewardship.
Work autonomously, showing initiative and strong problemsolving capability.

Qualifications:
Required:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent field
5 years of applicable experience
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering largescale, productionready systems
Strong cloud andKubernetesexpertise, including ecosystem tooling and InfrastructureasCode (Terraform,Ansible, or similar)
Familiarity withGitOps,secure system design, supplychain security, and airgapped environments
Strong understanding ofDevSecOpsprinciples
Experience with messaging or eventstreaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
Broad technical capability, able to reason across the stack and make sound architectural tradeoffs
Experience with AIassisted and agentic development tools, including safe integration practices
Effective technical communicator able to document and justify architectural decisions
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Desired:
Active Secret (or higher) clearance
Experience supporting government or Department of War (DoW) systems
Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, Protected Tactical SATCOM and COMSATCOM
Experience with maintaining software requirements alongside systems engineers, and establishing requirements traceability to capabilities
Experience integrating DevSecOps principles into software architecture
Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP/ESEP
Basic Compensation: $127,000 - $159,000 in El Segundo and $116,000-$145,000 in Colorado Springs
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
