Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant (NP OR PA) - UVA Primary Care Culpeper
UVA Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing UVA Primary Care Culpeper team. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary care in a collaborative environment supported by the resources and clinical excellence of UVA Health.
The APP will deliver high-quality care across the lifespan, managing acute and chronic conditions while emphasizing preventive care and long-term health management. This role provides the ability to practice with a high degree of clinical autonomy while working closely with physicians, nurses, and an interdisciplinary care team.
Practice Highlights
Established primary care practice serving the Culpeper community
Collaborative care team including physicians, APPs, nurses, and support staff
Strong referral network within the UVA Health system
Emphasis on quality, patient relationships, and preventative medicine
Access to UVA specialty care and advanced clinical resources
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive primary care services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
Perform complete health histories and physical examinations
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory studies
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with Virginia prescriptive authority
Provide preventive care, health screenings, and chronic disease management
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and wellness strategies
Collaborate with physicians and care team members to ensure coordinated patient care
Refer patients to specialists when appropriate and coordinate follow-up care
Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
Participate in quality improvement and clinical team initiatives
May participate in the education of medical, nursing, or APP students
Education
Masters degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Licensure & Certification
Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider in Virginia
Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Active DEA license (or ability to obtain)
BLS certification required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a masters degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
