Job Description: The A4C Deployed Communications SME issues and maintains communications equipment, serves as a technical expert, manages fielded communications systems, plans and executes equipment upgrades. The A4C Deployed Communications SME troubleshoots communication infrastructure, provisions and manages mobile devices linked to TAK, troubleshoots hardware and software, performs system backups and recovery, and installs and relocates equipment. The A4C Deployed Communications SME troubleshoots carrier services, facilitates monthly communication tests, and serves as alternate Communications Security (COMSEC) custodian. COMSEC duties will be performed in accordance with DAFMAN 17-1302-O, Communications Security (COMSEC) Operations, other Air Force Instructions, Air Force Manuals, National Security Agency (NSA) and USAF policies and procedures, and Electronic Key Management System Standards. COMSEC support may extend to compliance and personnel security services to include COMSEC, Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), personnel security, and physical security.
Certifications: The A4C Deployed Communications SME possesses and maintains DoW 8570.01-M IAT Level I Certification (e.g., A+ CE, Network+ CE, CCNA Security).
COMSEC support specialists must be graduates of the COMSEC Custodian Course or component equivalent course.

Specialized Experience:
COMSEC support specialists must be graduates of the COMSEC Custodian Course or component equivalent course.
Highly desired: Experience with Tactical UHF/VHF radios, deployable secure communications systems, waveform technologies, software-defined radios, Tactical Awareness Kit (TAK), commercial/military satellite architecture, working with other DoW and USG agencies, and providing classroom and hands-on training.
Minimum/General Experience: This position requires a minimum of eight years of increasingly complex and progressive experience operating, supporting and evaluating deployable communications systems using a variety of information technology resources. Requires experience with current technologies and, where required for the task, emerging technologies.
Minimum Education: A Bachelors Degree in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics, or business/finance.
Additional Requirements: For Germany and Italy positions, candidate must meet TESA requirements as follows:
Germany:
A Bachelors Degree and three (3) years of recent specialized experience; or
Associates Degree and seven (7) years of recent specialized experience; or
No degree and 11 years or recent specialized experience.
