KBR is hiring a Social Media Lead to support the Communications and Outreach team at the US Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Requirements:Education: BS in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing
Experience: 7-10 years relevant experience
Three years of continuous residency in the U.S. for issuance of a Government Security credential
Essential Job Functions
Create and schedule content across social platforms, develop editorial calendars, and maintain a consistent, mission-aligned voice and visual style.
Monitor platforms and conversations to identify engagement opportunities.
Stay current on EROS Center and science project developments to pitch fresh ideas and translate complex topics into accessible, compelling content.
Report on performance (reach, engagement, click-throughs) and provide insights to optimize content.
Adapt writing styles across technical, journalistic, and creative formats to meet audience expectations.
Produce project e-newsletters.
Collaborate closely with the supervisor and teammates to identify priorities and content needs.
Ensure compliance with plain-language best practices and USGS digital standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Journalistic copywriting and an eye for visual storytelling (images, graphics, short-form video).
Experience curating, packaging, and managing content across platforms (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) to meet audience expectations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media tools; experience with analytics is preferred.
An appreciation for Earth sciences and familiarity with Landsat or remote sensing is a plus.
