KBR is seeking a Classified Systems Administrator to join our Corporate IT team in Huntsville, AL. This role is responsible for supporting the administration, configuration, and sustainment of classified information systems within a secure classified environment. You will oversee and maintain hardware, software, operating systems, and peripheral equipment including servers, desktops, zero clients, storage devices, network gear, and virtualization infrastructure while ensuring system availability, data integrity, and compliance with basic security and recovery procedures such as backups and restorations. Working closely with cross-functional IT teams, you will apply standard system administration concepts to analyze issues, troubleshoot systems, and implement effective solutions. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and support classified computer systems hardware, network gear, software, information systems, and peripheral equipment including servers, desktops, zero clients, storage devices, and virtualization infrastructure
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain data systems and operating environments including Windows, Linux, VMware, and SQL Server while performing routine system maintenance such as patching and system backups
Administer infrastructure components including servers, zero clients, databases, malware protection solutions, HBSS, and syslog servers to ensure secure and reliable operations
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues under general supervision, applying detailed knowledge of system administration principles and industry best practices
Utilize experience and problem-solving skills to develop, document, and improve system administration processes, and implement system and process upgrades to enhance functionality and address security findings
Prepare, author, and review configuration change requests and actively participate in configuration change review board meetings to ensure effective change management
Identify potential risks, vulnerabilities, or inefficiencies within system configurations and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with data security policies, applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and DoD cybersecurity program implementation plans in accordance with DoD directives and Risk Management Framework requirements
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
Citizenship & Clearance:Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Certifications: Must have CompTIA Security+, CASP, or CISSP certifications or be able to obtain and maintain
Technical Expertise:
Knowledge of operating system functions, security policies, and technical security safeguards
Knowledge of NIST 800-53, DoD 5205.07 Series, Risk Management Framework, and Joint SAP Implementation Guide requirements
Knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning, system upgrades and patching, backup and recovery, as well as troubleshooting and problem resolution
Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Objects
Experience working independently and as part of a team in researching data and developing analytical techniques and methodologies
Ability to move, rack, stack, and install physical equipment by lifting up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Windows user account management, administration, and access controls
Systems Administration experience supporting United States Government classified environments
Experience applying DISA STIGs and resolving security vulnerabilities
Experience with PowerShell scripting
Fundamental understanding of the OSI model
Fundamental understanding of authentication mechanisms including Kerberos, LDAP, and NTLM, and use of necessary tools to troubleshoot them
Understanding of technology areas including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and WSUS
Knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, NFS, FTP, Telnet, and SSH
Installation and configuration experience of Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 workstations and peripherals
Experience with network-attached storage or storage area networks
Experience performing audits of key IT components to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
