Why You Should Hire Jaime Carson
To The Director of Human Resources:

My name is Jaime Carson, and I am interested in future employment with your organization. This cover letter is to help you understand a little about myself, and the journey I've been through my 31 years on this earth. I graduated from Wright State University June of 2004 with a degree in Sociology. From there, I began working for Senior Resource Connection doing Adult Protective Services. I investigated abuse, neglect and exploitation of those who are 60 years of age and older. After working there for a year and a half I began working for Montgomery County's Adult Protective Services; I stayed for 4 years. April of 2009 I had my daughter, who came 3 weeks early, and I went through a very bad, very long stint of Post Partum Depression. When I say very bad stint, I mean I was at the point of not eating, not sleeping, and considering suicide. In my mind I was not physically, mentally, or emotionally ready to be a new Mom, and with no help from family, as it's just me and my husband in Dayton, I lost my way. In November of 2009 I had a mental breakdown; everything just came crashing down when all the baby supplies and food in our home became scarce and neither my husband nor I were getting paid until the following week. I just couldn’t take it any longer; I became weak and stepped outside of myself. I went to work that day for a scheduled appointment with a client, she gave me her credit card to go get her groceries, and while getting her groceries, I started putting things in the cart for my household like, diapers, baby food and formula, wipes and food. In my heart I knew what I was doing was wrong, but mentally, at the time, I just wasn't there and couldn’t stop myself. The very next day I spoke with my supervisor and his supervisor and explained to them what I did and what I had been going through, and without going through the formalities, I resigned. I immediately sought out counseling, which was wonderful, and eventually got the help I needed. I also spoke with my client explaining everything I did and why and she was surprisingly very forgiving. Unfortunately her “caregivers” weren’t so forgiving and I did get formally charged and convicted of a felony for what I did. Sentencing was very light as the judge stated he understood what I was going through at the time, so I was placed on probation, which I'm off of as of March 2011, and in 3 years I can have this removed from my record. So, this MY life right now. I'm not perfect by any means, and I'm not a bad person; I wouldn't change anything that happened to me because this journey has definitely been a lesson learned. Not only did this situation teach me something about myself, I also feel that my story and what I’ve been through can help someone else from making the mistakes I made and seeking out help before it’s too late. I'm just looking to start my life over again, doing what I love to do with a fresh start, and I hope that you are willing to give me that chance. Thank You for taking the time to look over my resume and read my cover letter. I hope to hear from you soon, and if not, God bless you anyway.
