The great thing about a pillowcase dress is that it ties closed at the shoulders. This allows the dress to be opened out wider as the wearer grows up. The dress can be worn for two to four years. First it is worn as a dress and later as a shirt or top. In the winter time a T-Shirt or a turtle neck and tights or jeans can be worn under the dress, so this is really an all year garment. The dress makes an excellent hand-me-down, because you can change the color of the ribbons (the ribbons just pull out).
