Join the SAMHSA Program to Advance Recovery Knowledge (SPARK) initiative for a learning series to support peer-run organizations to explore and develop readiness strategies and skills that lead to successful contracts with funders.



This series provides a structured learning pathway that includes:

Two webinars open to anyone interested: August 20 and September 24, 2025

Individual readiness assessment for those interested in participating in the learning community: August 27, 2025

Learning community event: September 3, 2025

Individual, targeted technical assistance for those seeking additional support: September 10 and 17, 2025



The learning community event and targeted technical assistance will provide additional guidance as well as opportunities for organizations that need further preparation before advancing to the second webinar on how to contract with funders.

Contracting to Provide Peer Services: Is Your Organization Ready?
Wednesday, August 20, 2–3:30 p.m. ET

This webinar provides an in-depth exploration of the key areas of organizational readiness necessary for peer-run organizations to successfully contract with other behavioral health providers and organizations to offer peer support services. We cover the importance of assessing an organization’s experience, infrastructure, capacity, and culture, and provide practical steps for strengthening these areas to foster successful partnerships. Participants will gain actionable tools to evaluate their own readiness, identify areas for growth, and begin implementing strategies to increase their organizational effectiveness in the peer support space. The session includes interactive discussions, real-world examples, and resources for continued development.

Essentials for Contracting: Models, Contract Negotiation, and Compliance for Peer Organizations
Wednesday, September 24, 2–3:30 p.m. ET

This webinar provides peer organizations with essential insights into contracting peer services to other provider organizations. Participants explore four contracting models, understand critical components of funding contracts, and learn practical strategies for navigating the application and negotiation process. Emphasis is placed on ensuring compliance with partner expectations and maintaining positive relationships to foster ongoing collaboration. Through group discussions and activities, participants gain actionable tools and strategies to enhance their contracting readiness and success.
