Looking for HBCUs To Participate/Partner in The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (3863 hits)
The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, an exciting initiative begun in 2014, is now seeking U.S. –based colleges and universities to implement six-week Academic and Leadership Institutes in summer of 2017.
University partners will host 25 Fellows in mid-June through July 2017 for a noncredit, nondegree six-week Academic and Leadership Institute in one of three tracks: Business and Entrepreneurship; Civic Leadership; or Public Management. The intensive Institute model combines practical academic sessions, site visits, professional networking opportunities, community service, and organized cultural activities to maximize professional adult learning and cultural exchange.
The Fellows, who are between the ages of 25 and 35, have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive change in their organizations, institutions, and communities, and come from all 49 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Each of the 1000 Fellows selected for the 2017 Fellowship will hone their skills through a six-week Academic and Leadership Institute at a leading U.S. college or university, a Summit in Washington, DC, and some will engage in professional placements across the country. The Fellowship also provides Fellows with support for professional development after they return home.
