REMEMBERANCE SUNDAY DRAWS WORLD ATTENTION (1097 hits)

Sunday, November 09, 2014 was started the Rememberance Sunday in London at the Cenotaph Center. Thousands gathered to watch as the wreath ceremony was laid by the Queen and other royal family members. There were similar ceremonies across the UK and in Afghanistan. This is the 100th year of remembrance of the soliders who fought in WWI. In Afghanistan hundreds of soldiers gathered at the Kandahar Air Base for a special commeration ceremony. Thousands around the UK in many cities also officiated in the Remembrance Sunday ceremonies. Back in London there was a moment of silence and prayer as Big Ben struck 11:00GMT. Many held wreaths made from red poppies. And visited the the wall and fields of poppies at the Tower of London. A festival of the Tower of London is scheduled for November 11, 2014.
