TEXAS--A Dallas woman is accused of beating her teenage daughter after she saw a cellphone picture of the girl kissing a boy.
Shaquitta Spencer, 31, was arrested Monday on a charge of injury to a child, police records show. She is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $15,000 bail.
Officers were called to the family’s home in east Oak Cliff after the mother reported that the 14-year-old left home without permission. They found her on a nearby sidewalk with welts on her arms and chest.
The teen told police that her mother beat her with an extension cord after her little brother showed the mother a photo of her kissing a boy. When the teen tried to resist and grab the cord Spencer choked her until could not breathe, police say.
After her arrest, a witness told officers who were questioning the girl that the mother had been forcing her to strip in front of men for money, the documents say.
The teen and two younger brothers were taken to Child Protective Services.
