I hear you plus FAMU is where they had the hazing death! I still wish that I'd chosen South Carolina State Univ. (back then it was known as S.C. State College) or Benedict College or Allen University all with in minutes of the Univ. of South Carolina where I attended. Don't get me wrong, I loved attending Carolina and believe it gave me a well rounded higher learning experience because there were a good mix of everyone there. On the other hand, I would have loved the "Black College Experience" under my belt. My younger counsin went to State and she loved her experience.
To be frank, the HBCU's were too, dang expensive to go to!!! Who should I blame that on? Just why do we have to depend on the United Negro College Fund drives in order for poor Black kids like me to go to an HBCU's?! Besides this what is President Obama's Admin doing about the cost to go to a HBCU? I think I read a blog here once about it, but can't really remember the paticulars.
Hey I remember signs around campus when Hootie and the Blowfish were performing at pubs downtown Columbia... he's an alumni ... Darius Rucker that is. Also, I remember Steve Benjamin the current Mayor of Columbia, S.C. when he was the Student Body president. I think he'd make a great run as the next President of America. Hey I'm really proud GameCock! Go Cocky Go! http://www.sc.edu/
Yeah, I remember one day, they were setting up a stage on the pavilion lawn. No one knew why ... thought it was for something going on tomorrow or something ... then there was a crowd, but still no one knew ... then Goodie Mob stepped on stage and gave a concert right then and there ... it was awesome.
