Falling walls of brick and rubble tumbled down as a entire building fell. The commercial building was a site of crumbled stones. At least 80 people have perished and more may be accounted for as an 8 story building fell down covering up it's inhabitants. The building housed Many were injured and transported to emergency care. The location of the building in on the outskirts of Dakar. At least 700 people were reported injured, but as this story unfolds count tolls may rise. The building located in The Rana Plaza in Savor is completely demolished. According to news sources the building was only inspected on Tuesdays and showed signs of a crack in the wall. However, no immediate action was taken to investigate the damaged wall. Hundreds were working in the building as it houses garment factories and businesses. A similar tragedy occurred last November 2012 as a factory fire killed many. Officials offer little rule of safety to factory owners and their workers for safety in their working environment. Locals residents are looking for conditions to improve in areas of safety and perhaps some governmental influence to put in practice better working environment for the factory employed,

Do you think India has a 911 Emergency Or Rescue system adequate or sufficient to recover survivors? Who else to look for survivors but the people standing on the collapsed building?
Maybe Jen. But I wonder with all the military or police in the foreground, if they had gotten everyone they could reach without using the machinery to remove the rubble.

Now, the death toll has grown to over 100 persons. With hundreds injured. Each day has been an enormous effort to save lives. Therefore, anyone to help including all those volunteers are badly necessary. Everyone can help do something. It's quite a crisis.

The Rana Plaza complex mostly housed factories that made clothes for American and European companies. As of Friday, the death toll has reached 307, but it is expected to rise considerably. About 3,000 people are believed to have been in the building when it collapsed shortly after the day’s work began.

Supervisors Ignored Cracks In The Walls

Dilara Begum, a garment worker who survived the accident, said workers had been ordered to leave after a crack appeared in the wall of the building on Tuesday but on Wednesday morning supervisors had told them to return to work, saying the building had been inspected and declared safe.
Loblaw says it will compensate victims of Bangladesh building collapse Loblaw Inc. says it will provide compensation to the families of victims who worked in a garment factory that collapsed in Bangladesh. The factory made products for Joe Fresh, a clothing line sold at Loblaws. The victims and their families will "receive benefits now and in the future," the company said.

I can't believe it! When you think sweat shops, you think of Mexico or China! I guess everyone over the Globe needs cheat labour to make the ' ends meet'. It's so sad. What compensation will JC Penny's be providing? Hmmmm.....

Well I've said it before, this isn't a Recession, it's a Depression. And it's affecting the whole world. The U.S. companies do what they do, if I need to buy a shirt and go to Penny's and what they've got is from India, I don't have a choice. And the workers in India don't have a choice because they need to survive too.
Where will it end. It's hard to be optimistic in this situation, the corporations and banks have got everyone under their thumbs, including our Sworn Leaders.
I hear you Steve. Unions and continuous increases in minimum wages keep driving up costs among other things. I suppose we could go back to wearing leaves.
