CHINA CELEBRATES LUNAR NEW YEAR! (479 hits)

China celebrated it's Lunar New Year on February 08, 2013. The decorations and fireworks highligted the special event. The event is also known as The Spring Festival starts on February 10th. This year is called "The Year of the Snake" This promises to be a year of unity, growth and good fortune.

Only one week ago on February 02, 2012 however, a terrible accident occured with transports of a shipment of fireworks trigged an explosion over a bridge In Shaanix Pucheng County that killed 8 people. A section of the huge bridge was totatled to ruins. Trucks were carrying a cargo of fireworks that ignited and exploded which were meant for the festival celebrations. However, it is not uncommon for large shipments of fireworks in that region of the country to cause such accidents.

Celebrations went on with a crowd of thousands over China's cities.
