The body of a 23 year rape victim made it's way home to New Delhi to be creamated after a grueling and violent rape took her life on December 16, 2012. The woman was subjected to a gang rape by six men while riding taking a bus ride which she became a rape and murder victim. The young woman was reported as going home with her male friend when they both were attacked by gang members. The gang was said to have beat both her and her friend with iron rods. Her male friend survived.
The woman was said to had suffered head trauma and internal injuries by an object shoved inside her gential of which she never recovered. The gang members have been arrested, but protests has sparked among women that something should be done immedialetly to prosecute s*x offenders against women and rape. Many protested with signs and outbreaks of shouting "We want justice." Since then the alleged six gang members have be arrested and have been charged with murder and may receive the death penalty. Now the protestors are marching for better laws to help prevent cases of rape going unnoticed, and to have more women come forward without humiliation that have been victims of rape. Idenity of the woman has not been released.
