STEVEN TYLER ADDRESSES NICKI MINAJ'S "RACIST" CLAIM (2113 hits)
Steven Tyler is apologizing — if Nicki Minaj misinterpreted his recent comments.
The former "American Idol" judge and Aerosmith frontman responded to Minaj's claim that he's a racist.
Minaj took offense to comments Tyler made during an MTV interview in which he said Bob Dylan would likely be immediately dismissed from this year's show.
"Idol" premieres Jan. 16 on the Fox network with Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban serving as new judges. The rapper called the comment racist and fired an expletive at the Aerosmith frontman, as well.
During an interview with the Canadian entertainment news program "eTalk," Tyler spoke directly to Minaj, saying: "I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki."
"I am the farthest from — what did she say I was? — a racist," Tyler said in the interview. "I'm the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist. I don't know where she got that out of me saying I'm not sure how she would have judged Bob Dylan. I was just saying that if Bob Dylan came on the show, he would've been thrown off, so maybe I spoke out of turn. But a racist I am not, Nicki."
I think this might be the last season of American Idol to be honest. A lot of people are turned off by Nicki and Mariah being judges. They are both crazy and fans are hoping they can co-exist without hurting each other. They could have hired other people like Diana Ross or Anita Baker who would have been a better fit. This season is going to be a joke.
American Idol has lost a lot of Credibility with them having the same type of winner every season. Ever since Fantasia won it hasn't been the same and people are turning into the Voice and X Factor instead now.

I think Nikki just believes she needs to stir up trouble because she has to keep street cred however we don't know the full story. A lot of people are on Steven's side for obvious reasons but he HAD to say something very out of line to receive that kind of reaction from Nikki. I'm cheering neither side. We don't know if this fake or not but either way American Idol is LOVING this for the ratings. My wife and I watch this show but I'm losing respect for them due to melodramatic scenes to keep folks talking. I remember the days of watching shows like Star Search and Showtime at the Apollo and how they had non-dramatic people and actually focus on the contestants. American Idol started out that way but became desperate. If I wanted to watch overgrown women at each other throats I'll tune in to The Real Housewives of Atlanta lol.
