3 Tips for Avoiding a Calorie Surplus on Turkey Day (964 hits)

Avoid undue weight gain on Turkey Day by following these 3 tips:

1. Jump-start Turkey Day with at least 45 minutes of physical activity. Hit the gym, go for a jog, or do a little bike riding for a calorie-burning boost before indulging.

2. Load at least half of your Turkey Day plate with collard greens or other leafy green salads and non-starchy vegetables for added fiber to help increase the feeling of fullness.

3. Be mindful that serving sizes matter. If you must include Turkey Day favorites like pasta, mashed potatoes, and candied yams on your plate, know that one serving of each is 1/2 of a cup yielding 200-300 calories per serving.
