Did You Know That Boombastic Means to Throwdown (or Be Amazing) in the Bedroom? Shaggy Is ' Boombastic ' ! (11421 hits)
The other guy called it Mr. Lover/Lover... What's his name? You know, the dark skinned, s*xy Jamaican guy... Shaba!!! Anyway... after 10 years that this song first came out, I now have been privileged to work with lots of Jamaicans who speak Patwa. Shaggy is singing combo Jamaican Patois (Patwa or Patwah) Jamaican Creole (read more specifically about Patois below).
Sorry for Digressing...
Did you know that boombastic is an act of being amazing in bed? Here's some of what Shaggy is mackingsinging about; "What you want is some boombastic ..." "I'm just like a turtle crawling out of my shell Gal you captivate my body put me under a spell With your cus cus perfume I love your sweet smell-- cus-cus-- One who pretends to be innocent and sweet but really is very perverted and horny. Or a woman’s ****** or Pu**y- He says her perfume smells like pu**y & it has rang his bell (manhood). Ha! U R da only young girl who can ring my bell ...
Jamaican Creole
He's singing combo Jamaican Patois (Patwa or Patwah) Jamaican Creole that's an English-lexified Creole language w/ West African influences spoken primarily in Jamaica & Jamaican Diaspora. Not to be confused w/ Jamaican English nor with the Rastafarian uses of English. Developed in 17th century, by slaves from West & Central Africa exposed to, learned, & nativized the vernacular and dialectal forms of English spoken by their masters. I tried to do a Google translate for patwa but ended up going tothe urban dictionary to translate some words. I work with lots of Jamaicans and when they start speaking this, I'm so lost; however, West Africans understand this because of the Creole or Pidgin English that's spoken. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamaican_Pato...
More about Boombastic, the Song!
"Boombastic" is the second single released by Jamaican rapper Shaggy from his third studio album, Boombastic. Released in June 1995, the single achieved huge success in many countries, including Ireland, UK, Sweden, New Zealand and Australia where it topped the singles charts. It spent a week at number one on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart, and a similar stint atop the UK Singles Chart. It also reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100. A remix featuring Sting International features a sample of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On." The latter is featured on some versions of the Boombastic album as a bonus track. Boombastic gained popularity after being featured in a popular Levi's television commercial. [1] The song was featured in the films Barnyard, Mr. Bean's Holiday, George of the Jungle, and The Wild Thornberry’s Movie.

Hey guys I rcvd another meaning for cus cus from someone from Barbados; it's means grass so the girl's perfume is sweet like grass. It sounds suspect but Shaggy could be comparing perfume to grass. I didn't know that grass could smell sweet!
Like the Shaggy sound, but it may give cause to be on alert to what I'm listenin to. Girl, you're just "Juicy!"

MIISRAEL Bride
Miisrael its all good and you're right... you betta be watchin' what you be singin' when repeating Shaggy lyrics cause you might not be able to maintain your celibacy anymore and be forced to marry rather than to burn with passion, lust, and you fill in the rest of the blank, _________!!!
I find Caribbean music especially Soca to have double meaning or hidden meanings that those who don't speak or know the lingua won't realize or understand.
I found this tib bit on wikipedia, one of my (second to UTUBE) favorite places to glean information...
"... [ "solka", representing the true "soul of calypso", ... the name was later changed to "soca" by a music journalist. Many suggest that the name "soca" was a combination of the first two letters of "SOul" and "CAlypso". Soca's development includes its fusion of calypso, African music, cadence, and Indian musical instruments --"]...
You probably knew this already, buy I realized it much LATER that the song, "Turn Me On" by Caribbean artist, Kevin Lyttle is a Soca music song but most people probably know it by it famous chorus "You Got Me Goin' Crazy, Girl You Turn Me On"
Miisrael... take a look at some of those lyrics to the song link that I posted... pay close attention to some of the words and phrases used such as "let me jam you", "Girl wine all around me, "python", "wind on me", "bumper", "wining hard on me", "python",... now the song is a bit more racy, eh!
