What planet is in crisis? According to ZSL's Professor Tim Blackburn statement.."We are living in a planet in crisis" This statement was a result of seeing the planet Earth's wildlife populations declining by more than 30% in the past 4 decades. A report examined that more than 9,000 populations of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians and fish are faring. The record of over-consumption of natural resources with serious implications of human health, wealth and well-biring lead the face of the record. The study by the WWF in the latest Living Planet report came from the Zoologicial Society of London and the Global Footprint nework. Researcher revealved that 2.7 billion people live in areas that suffer water shortagges at least 1 month of the year.
Reports and researchers said that people are exploiting resources such as water, forests, fisheries and putting the greenhouse gas remissions into the atmospere at a much higher rate than it's being replenished and pollution is absorbed. Fearful news of there report indicates rising population and comsuption means that by the year 2030, two planets will not be enough to reach human demand, thus threating resources including food, freshwater and a stable climate that's greatly needed to survive. As far as wildlife populations the WWF has warned that habitats and species bouncing back from previous lows have been degraded and damaged.. WWF is calling on governments and businessess meeting in Rio de Janeiro next month to discuss sustainable development plans and address the situations of the Earth with urgency and determination.
