The two planets will be visible to viewers in the Northern Hemisphere and at mid-northn latitudes on Thursday the pair should will truly shine. Those in the western horizon should see the bright blaze about 4 hours after sunset. Jupiter being the larger planet is about 11 wider than the smaller more Earth-size Venus, but Venus shines much more brighter because Venus is closer to Earth than Jupiter. After the alignment is over Venus and Jupiter will part away in a different part of the sky. You may be able to catch Venus in a few months around June 5th, 2012 making a cross by the face of the sun according Earth's perspective which will appear as a tiny black dot against the face of our star.
