EMPOWERING WOMEN: WHO IS LOUISE LINZY? (2265 hits)

Louise Linzy was elected as the first woman to hold office as a judge in Tunica County, Mississippi. She was sworn in as Justice Court Judge for the Southern District of Tunica County. Since this area of Tunica is 80% Black population and representation of Blacks in judical offices were few and Linzy has had her competition trials in being elected. Twice in 2007 her incumbent defeated her within only a very few votes, but finally she has claimed victory for the seat in December 2011. This was a first for Linzy however, she shares another first as being the first woman policewoman in Tunica as well. Setting one for two firsts Linzy shows dedication and persistance plays a role in meeting goals which rewards challenges to empower.
