Study: A Home with a Mom and a Dad Improves Boys' Behavior in School (463 hits)
January 5, 2012 An analysis of 20 years’ worth of school suspension rates nationwide shows that the greatest influence on boys’ behavior at school is not the type of school they attend or teacher they have, but the type of home in which they’re being raised.
Researchers at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business found that boys being raised in intact homes with both parents had the least behavioral problems and school suspensions, while those being raised by single mothers had the most. However, this was not found to be the case among girls.
Glenn T. Stanton, director of Global Family Formation Studies at Focus on the Family, said intact families are the best for children of either gender.
“This supports over three decades of consistent research showing that kids who grow up in a home with their married parents tend to do better in all measures of educational attainment than their peers being raised in single, divorced and cohabiting-parent homes,” he said. “This is true from everything from grade-point average, behavioral issues, high school graduation and going on to graduate from college. Moms and dads both matter here, as well as the type of relationship between them.”

That's funny that you should say that your father rescued you, eh! My husband used to accuse me of "Mommying" our little one too, much. He would say, "You're going to make the boy into a Mr. Mommy". I would be so hurt when he'd say that, but now I just let him do what men do for their sons with no questions asked. ... Well not as many questions as before... Ha!
@Jake, endless thanks to you for mentioning that fathers come in all sizes and shapes for children, example, step fathers, school counselors, religious leaders, school teachers, uncles, cousins, neighbors ect. taht are there to help raise children in our VILLAGES called a planet, city or towns in America so lets not, not give our family members and friends in the male species a role of being able to love, respect and be role models for our children, because prison is not our destiny nor is turning to drugs...look who is in the whitehose h ouse and many of those killed in our 10 years + wrs have left thousland sn thousands of Americans with a father in teh home not to mention cancer, ect...

Jake it is because I am a decendant of hunter gathers and proud of it, because all of thefamily played a part in raising and the welfare of the child as well as those of the whole village..so I am looking forward to another grand child be it a boy or a girl you have."I" claim all chidren.
