After studying the information presented here, you will be able to — •Name three signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer. •Compare and contrast two treatment options for pancreatic cancer. •Discuss two palliative care interventions for pancreatic cancer.
The numbers tell the story: Pancreatic cancer remains tough to beat. Survival rates for all stages of pancreatic cancer range from 24% for one-year survival to 5% for five-year survival.1 Even though rare, pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. oh yeah!! it's baffling.... most of the endocrine organs are very aggressive when it comes to chemo or radiation treatment....

and the symptoms are vague. My mom was diagnosed 5 years ago with a tumor on her adrenal gland.... Thank God... she was aware that something just wasn't "right" through an MRI it showed an abnormal growth... further tests revealed that she had a Pheochromocytomas..... vague symptoms... Anxiety, Elevated blood pressure and severe headaches....

The tumor was benign they removed her left adrenal gland and..... later we found out that it was a blessing because this type of tumor is rarely diagnosed ..
Bruce Lee died from a similar turmor!

@ Sister Irma,

Wow. My heartfelt prayers go out to the family and friend's of your church mbr.

@ Sister Cynt,
I'm really in the dark when it comes to pancreatic cancer so its truly a learning experience for me. I'm equally happy that your mom sought medical treatment and that the tumor was found. That (seeking medical care) in and of itself saved her life. I'm glad she didn't ignore how her body was feeling.

Also, I posted this blog because I was thinking of Steve Jobs because he has really fought hard in his battle against Pancreatic Cancer. I've done a couple of posts in the news section, chronicling his legacy with Apple. I wasn't into news back in the day, but I heard from some older people that remembered when Mr. Jobs left Apple and was begged to come back when Apple was doomed to bankruptcy. He's truly been a visionary and major leader in that company.

Jen, less than 7 hr. ago I recieved a call to chant extra for one of the members whose husband had just died of Pancreatic cancer only 10 min. before she called me.

When the doctos found he had this cancer they gave him 2 months to live, he did not make the full two months. But Jen, he did last longer than another friend of mine that had this cancer. (smile)

Thanks Jen, but we don't have churches or temples, we meet at each other s homes and chant pray once a week...we have study lessons once a month and go to a buddhist center everyfirst sunday of the month...we are more a discussion group that centers on how to respect self and others and the earth as partners...but..

My friend is NDB, but her husband is Catholic. They have been married for over 60 years. They were both born and raised in Japan and will follow their ancient custom of cremation and we will go this his parish church for the funeral...This will be the first Catholic mass I have been to in over 25 years, but I shall go to Mass with an open mind and at full peace and contenment. Bless Mr. Jobs for all he has done for all of us, so now we must respect his wish to be able to retire and enjoy his life, because of him being sick he has sacrificed enough of his ME TIME for us. (smile)
