Tranquility and God’s Sovereignty (163 hits)

"Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind." Ecclesiastes 4:6
Tranquility—a little peace and quiet—I need more of it. Do you? For the average American woman, rest has become an illusive dream. More often than not, we are stressed with the double burden of working a full-time job and taking care of family. For most, it is pretty overwhelming and exhausting. When you finally do have the time to relax, you are annoyed by the thoughts of what has not yet been done.

Stop. Take a breath. Learn to release your hands and rely on God to make it through your day. He promises not to give us more than we can handle. Be sure to understand and discern what we may be trying to handle beyond what God asks us to.

As the day progresses, cast your burdens and worries onto Him—"... better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil." King Solomon reminds us that worry is meaningless. God will still be sovereign even if you do not have time today to finish what can wait for tomorrow. Relax in His perfect peace.

Prayer
O Sovereign Lord, my Prince of perfect peace. When my life gets to hectic and frazzled, shower me with Your peace and tranquility. Let my mind and spirit find rest in You to help me through my day. Amen.
