Seeing Potential In Others (1596 hits)

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “...Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out” (Ephesians 6:18, The Message)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria
It’s easy to be someone’s friend when they’ve got it all together, when they’re walking in blessing and prosperity. Anybody can believe in people after they’re successful, after they graduate, after they’re promoted, after they get their big break. But, people need our support the most before they get their breakthrough. They need us to look past their faults and failures and see their potential.

Most times, people just need a little “push” of encouragement to keep them moving forward. We should always put ourselves in the other person’s shoes and see things from their perspective. You may have some good advice that could save them a lot of heartache and pain. Don’t keep it to yourself. Pick up the phone. Help them win. Maybe you excelled in a college course that they’re struggling in. Don’t sit back and think, “Too bad. They’ve got to learn it the hard way.” No, you are the hands and feet of Jesus. When you help others rise higher, you are fulfilling His mission. Today, share your love, support and encouragement. Invest life in others, see their potential, and together, you’ll rise higher into the blessing God has for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for giving me influence with the people in my life. Thank You for equipping me to help others rise higher. Reveal to me the potential You have deposited in the people around me and show me ways to help them so we can win at life together. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Saint,
You know that you and I are cool. Anytime you want to talk about the haves and have knots or is it the desirables and undesirables??? ... feel free to do so anytime on my blogs ... I can't promise you that I won't joke with you a bit regarding it, but then that's just me.

It's true what you have stated regarding people having to have passion. Passion is what drives us and without it many things wouldn't get done. Men should be the drivers at least I think so. I'm an old fashion kind of girl born and raised in the South. Women shouldn't allow themselves to be overly boisterous or bossy, dictating to a man what he should and shouldn't do as a man. Remember the episode of "Roots" after Kunta had come back from his Manhood training in the forest and his mother told him to do "thus and so"? Well anyway, Kunta corrected her and told her that a woman shouldn't tell a Man what to do. He was now a Warrior. For me that's what it should be like. A true Warrior will have direction and a sense of purpose.

As for me, I try to help people where I can but some just don't want my help. I'm not sure if its Avoidance for fear of Failure that they don't try or just them avoiding me. I need to ask my sister what she thinks the answer is to this question. I declare she avoids me on purpose because she thinks I'm pushy. Ha! I just want her to go back to school and be a Licensed Practical Nurse at some point instead of settling for Nurse's Aid. Oh well what can I do? I do see her potential, but how long will it take her before she sees it?

@ Saint,

[No, the patient exhibited 'AVOIDANCE' which is emotions without discipline because he does not want to take the appropriate actions/methods to get his physical health better in the first place. (In fact, he really wants to go on denying that he maybe sick). ]

Avoidance is what I say that is big time!! I get this alot. People want the doctor to stop the symptoms by giving them a medicine or pill to fix the problem while they continue with their self defeating bad habits and continue with their old lifestyle. Only a fool will expect change without making changes. Thanks for the analogy which doesn't really sound like an analogy, but real life examples that I see all the time.
