Press Conference and Toxic Site Tour

U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson along with Presidential appointee Jared Blumenfeld, Regional Director of the U.S. Enviornmental Protection Agency, will host a presser and Superfund site tour in Davis , California at noon today. In case you have not already RSVP'd or planned to cover remotely, just wanted to send a note to provide more details about today's exciting annoucement re: innovative uses of green technology on one of America 's most toxic sites.

This is the first time in the nation a Superfund site will be completely run by Solar energy. It's also exciting because thanks to $2.5M in stimulus funds that went to innovative tech advances at the site (an electrical resistive heating system) the site cleanup will be shortened by more than 120 years! The new system will officially go on-line today, followed by a tour of the site lead by technical experts who can provide details.

If you missed the media advisory that was sent out last week, you can check it out on-line at: http://www.epa.gov/region9/mediacenter/sol...

If you are interested in attending and haven't already let me know please RSVP as soon as possible. For those who aren't located nearby, we'll also have an e-media kit w/ hi-res photos and additional information available at the link above following the event.
