Our Blogs are Beautiful- Patrice Yursik (540 hits)

Welcome to another feature of the Our Blogs are Beautiful series in honor of Black History month.

This series will shine the spotlight on those beautiful sistas who are on their own paths to greatness, trailblazers in their own rights. These sistas are essentially setting the stage for history making on their own. The sistas that will be honored here are authors of some of the most prolific writings you will ever see. They are Beautiful Black Bloggers.

They are extraordinary sistas doing extraordinary things. They have visions and are living their lives filled with so much purpose and passion. Not only are they talking the talk, but they are walking the walk. And the best part about it is that they are still youthful, flying high on eagles wings, with a lot of miles left in them to accomplish more great feats.

Our BBB for today is none other than beauty and brains behind the popular blog, Afrobella, Patrice Yursik. Her blog showcases her style and talent for all things beautiful including hair, beauty, culture, life and loving the skin you're in. Her blog has received several awards including the Black Weblog Awards, the Glam Network Awards, and featured in the April 2009 issue of Glamour magazine.

Patrice is a native of Trinidad who now lives in Chicago. She has had a passion for cosmetics and perfumes since the tender young age of 8 years old.

Today, she has one the most popular blogs on beauty products and natural hair, hence the namesake of her blog. According to her website, she began her blog in to fill a void:

Afrobella.com was created in August 2006 to fill a void that existed in print and in the blogosphere – a continual celebration of natural hair and women all shades of beautiful. Afrobella readers are enlightening and entertaining, intelligent and glamorous, friendly, fabulous and fun. If you love the skin that you’re in and the beautiful natural texture of your hair, if you enjoy learning about different cultures and listening to eclectic music, if you have an obsession with makeup and fashion and all things fabulous — then this is the blog for you. (afrobella.com)

And she is accomplishing all that she set her intentions to do on this blog. As I am writing the post, Afrobella is attending New York's Fashion Week by way of invitation from Lucky Magazine, pretty much because of the exciting and knowledgeable information that she provides on her blog. That is a fantastic opportunity and I would love to be in the NYC at any time.

So take a moment and stop by Afrobella, check out some of Patrice's work and show her some love.
