You can have a season to remember without incurring debts you can't forget

It’s ironic that just as we’ve reached the age when we truly understand that money can’t buy happiness, we try to bring joy to the kids in our lives by lavishing them with gifts. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this — spoiling the grandkids can be one of the best things about being a grandparent.
But spending can get out of hand, and even interfere with important life lessons parents are trying to teach the children. We liked what Julie Hildebrand had to say on the subject in the Dallas Morning News. It reminded us of an article by our own financial columnist, Bambi Holzer, who offers practical ways to enjoy the holidays without breaking your piggy bank.
