73 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR CAR THEFT, STEALING CHOCOLATE MILK (1383 hits)
NEW ORLEANS--Give Alvin Fraley this: the 73-year-old is nothing if not persistent.
About two months after Fraley was booked with his second car theft in Jefferson Parish, St. Tammany Parish deputies say they found the senior citizen driving around the north shore in yet another stolen vehicle.
Deputies were patrolling Louisiana 36 between Covington and Abita Springs about noon on Wednesday when they spotted a red Chevrolet Silverado that had been reported as stolen in Gretna earlier this month, Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. George Bonnett said.
Deputies stopped the pickup and arrested Fraley, of 261 Jules Ave., New Orleans. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish jail in Covington with possession of stolen things and is being held on a $7,500 bond.
Fraley has had several run-ins with the law this summer. In June, he was arrested in Jefferson Parish when he was allegedly found in possession of the keys to a stolen car. Oddly, though Fraley told deputies he had stolen the car from a service station, it was initially stolen from the parking lot of a motel by a young man with dreadlocks about two weeks before it was found in the senior citizen's possession, authorities said.
A month later, Fraley was booked with auto theft after allegedly stealing a car from in front of a convenience store. He was caught when he returned to the store and tried to shoplift chocolate milk, authorities said. The owner of the store said Fraley had been caught trying to steal chocolate milk on two other occasions.
