Our industry, both through the efforts of ACRO and individual member companies, has been a major proponent and facilitator in the globalization of clinical research. In fact, ACRO member companies routinely conduct research in more than 115 countries, and this number is growing steadily.
We have full confidence that this research, regardless of where it is conducted, meets the highest standards for ethics, safety and scientific quality. But our confidence alone is not enough. We also need the confidence of the regulatory community and the public at large. For this reason, one of ACRO’s major initiatives this year is to secure additional funding for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of International Programs (OIP).
