ON THE "BLACK CODE" LAWS (5139 hits)

From GlobalResearch.com
February 4, 2010

As newly freed slaves would soon learn, freedom was not as they had anticipated. White southerners were anxious to regain power over them and used the law in order to achieve that objective. In 1865, southerners created Black Codes, which served as a way to control and inhibit the freedom of ex-slaves. Codes controlled almost all aspects of life and prohibited African Americans from the freedoms that had been won.
Not only did whites want to control ex-slaves, but also they needed laborers. While things could no longer be exactly the same as in slavery, they found a way to guarantee that blacks would serve as their laborers. To do this, they created Black Codes. While Codes were unique to the post-Civil War south, they encompassed some of the antebellum restrictions on free blacks, northern apprenticeship laws, and the Freedmen's Bureau and the War Department regulations. Codes regulated civil and legal rights, from marriage to the right to hold and sell property to the predestined definition of African Americans as agricultural laborers.
Laws were different in each state but most embodied the same kinds of restrictions. Commonly, codes compelled freedmen to work. In many states, if unemployed, African Americans faced the potential of being arrested and charged with vagrancy. Many of those that did work had their day regulated. Codes dictated their hours of labor, duties, and the behavior assigned to them as agricultural workers.
Black Codes left African Americans with little freedom. Even the freedom to chose a type of work was often regulated. Many white southerners believed blacks were predestined to work as agricultural laborers. In addition, the advantage of regulating occupations provided them with laborers. In South Carolina, for example, a special license and certificate from a local judge attesting to a freedman's skill had to be obtained in order to pursue work in any occupation other than in agriculture or domestic work.
Self-sufficiency was also discouraged. Codes prevented African Americans from raising their own crops. In Mississippi, for instance, they were restricted from renting or leasing any land outside of cities or towns and black ownership was left up to local authorities.
Almost every aspect of life was regulated, including the freedom to roam. Often blacks were prohibited from entering towns without permission. In Opelousas, Louisiana blacks needed permission from their employer to enter the town. A note was required and it had to state the nature and length of the visit. Any black found without a note after ten o'clock at night was subject to imprisonment. Residency within towns and cities was also discouraged. Local ordinances in Louisiana made it almost impossible for blacks to live within the towns or cities. Residency was only possible if a white employer agreed to take responsibility for his employee's conduct.
The creators of the codes did not try to hide the obvious bias and prejudice. Not surprisingly, by 1866, Black Codes were suspended by Federal officials who deemed that the codes were too harsh and decided that blacks should be subject to the same penalties and regulations as whites.

Hello Clark,

You said this, “Harry, first of all, this thread is not about that.”

Will Clark, what is the post about other than that, the members we as a people have endured through the ages? So, my comment is appropriate and about this thread.

Next, you said this, “Secondly, and more importantly, why would I waste my time posting "ideas" for you when you have demonstrated that you are all talk?”

Posting your ideas is not for me, rather it is for all of us as a means of crystallizing the many different ideas into the one idea that we could chase the permanently that would set us free, am I right. Did Moses not do with his people the same thing as I am doing? Moses crystallized all the ideas that the Elders had into the one main idea that the Hebrew people could chase that would permanently set them free from their bondage and problems in Egypt, am I right. That main and permanent solution was the Exodus, am I right again?

Lastly, what else could I do at this early stage other then talk to you all? What else could Moses have done except talk to his people until they understood the things that Moses was saying? Now when they understood what Moses was saying was when action took place and the Exodus happened, am I right.

Thus far we can not even cordially decide to meet with each other in someone’s home state to see, talk and forge a friendship to move forward on our sovereignty as Moses moved forward on the Exodus, am I right.

So, what do you mean when you say all I do is talk?

Tell me what you think.

"EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD." NELSON MANDELA

Richard Kigel
Hello Mr. Kigel,

Education of itself is meaningless. Education must have four legs to sit on to be of any benefit to Black Americans who are a subjugated people in White America. The four legs I am referring to could only be Black America’s sovereignty or complete independence from White America on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way.

Black Americans will become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent soon enough. The Hebrew people became free soon enough as well since God was with Moses as God is with me. Am I making any sense with you Mr. Kigel?

Now, what Mr. Mandel does not see is that Black South Africans will always be a subjugated people to the White South Africans if the relationship does not change. Black South Africans are what they are today because of the pressure that the world exerted on the White South Africans to abolish apartheid. The same as President Lincoln exerting pressure on the White Southerners to abolish slavery. White South Africans still holds all the cards that govern and direct the lives of Black South Africans, am I right.

For the most part Mr. Kigel, the world such as Iran, what was Iraq, China etc. as a whole wants to be free from the ways of Caucasian people if you will. It is human nature if you will that man would dominate his fellow man by any means necessary, am I right.

We, Black Americans will change the way of our White American relatives for the better. The world has been dominated by wars since God created man. Black tribal wars, ethnic cleansing by other races and the tragedies of man against man continues. Well, Black Americans is destined to put a stop to all of it that more global advancement could take place, would you agree with me.

Mr. Kigel, who should educate Black Americans? Should it be White America? Or should it be Black Americans educated Black Americans?

Do you understand my point?

Tell me what you think.

Hello Robert,

Robert I must say that you are a dumb ASS and this is why.

You said this, “All of which our dumbarsedNegro ancestors of 1865 accepted as the best way to live.”

Black Americans were in brutal slavery for hundreds of years until 1865. Slaves do not have the Intelligence to accept or make intelligent or rational decisions as to the best way to live. Only a dumb ASS such as you could believe a slave comment out of brutal slavery have the intelligence to decide anything for themselves.

Take a look at your dumb ASS that you have accepted the best way to live as a Black American man is to live it in the shadow of Arabian people. So, how intelligent are you? You have taken yourself through unnecessary struggles as a Black American man to learn the Arabic language, which is not a demanding language, participate in Ramadan, embrace the Arabian people’s prophet, Prophet Mohammad, and cling to Al Islam and Al Quran while all the time you are a Black American man and not Arabian.

In addition, you know that Allah rose up prophets only from among their own kinds and Arabian people are not of your kinds. So again, who are a bombastic and an ignorant Negro more so than you are?

Tell me what you think.

Hello Robert,

I can understand your feelings of emptiness. You have come to recognize that you are not all that you thought you were until you met me. However, I mean you no harm. I bring you good tidings from the Creator. So, your feelings of emptiness are okay.

I am who I say that I am. I am your genuine prophet and not Prophet Mohammad. I have explained to you that since you are not one of Mohammad’s kinds you have been misled practically the religion of Al Islam all your life.

Consequentially, the light that I have brought to you is part of my divine task and you have been overwhelmed.

Now, since you cannot explain or use this strange word, “dumbarsed” in a sentence tell me you have fallen flat on your head. I will not continue to beat you down since that is not my purpose. My purpose is to opt in if you.

We need to move on to greater and better things. But firstly, you know that you must put down Al Islam. In other words, you cannot have both, either it is true that Allah rose up prophets from among their own kinds or Allah did not raise up prophets from among their own kinds. If you believe that Allah rose up prophets from among their own kinds then you are obligated to put down Al Islam since you are not one of Mohammad’s kinds, and I right. If you continue to hold on to Al Islam then you do not believe that Allah rose up prophets from among their own kinds, which makes Allah wrong and we know that the Creator is not wrong.

I believe in the truth of all scriptures left by the genuine prophets of the Creator. Therefore, I believe that the Creator only rose up prophets from among their own kinds. If you are a believer in the Creator then you should believe as I do believe, am I right.

Tell me what you think.

I always thought I was an insignificant old man, but knowing you have given me an opportunity to delve into the mind of the psychosis of self agrandisement and self central ego.-----and BiPolar Mass Repetitious Behavior---I might even go to medical school now.

thank you so much mr. watley; you and little abraham(fbi) have confirmed my Central Recurring Premise that the 1865 Negros that choose MasterpaganChristianity could only produce many psychotic offspring.

Hello Mr. Robert,

You can pretend that you are dumb, but I know you understand everything I say.

I said that Allah rose up prophets from among their own kinds. You are not one of Mohammad’s kinds. So, the question is, why are you following Prophet Mohammad? The answer rational answer is that you were oblivious to the fundamental understanding of Prophet Mohammad, Al Islam and Al Quran. However, since you have met me and I have opened your eyes to your obliviousness and you would contain you to embrace Prophet Mohammad then the only rational answer to your action is stupidity and ignorance, am I right.

In other words, any rational person knowing that they are now going in the wrong direction and would not want to do something about it is entirely ignorant. It is as if driving in the wrong direction and you has come to know that you are going in the wrong direction and still continue driving in the wrong direction is absolutely stupid, since you know you will never reach your destination, am I right.

I am the way for you. I am your genuine prophet. I am to you as Prophet Mohammad was to the Arabian people. I am to you as Prophet Moses was to the children of Israel.

I want you to put down Al Quran in turn to me that you may help me in my divine task as the companions of Prophet Mohammad helped him.

Am I right?
