Rhythmless Nation

“If you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?”

Laughter heals a tortured soul.
So laugh today.
Laugh at yourself.
Find the humor in a bad situation.
Laughter can make all the difference in the world.

Yes I am a card carrying member of the Rhythmless Nation.
Two left feet. Awkward. Klutzy. Yes that’s me. Oh I’ll get on the floor and two-step but that is exactly what it says. Two steps. More than that and I look like a marionette on drugs.

Do you remember the Bus Stop? It was the precursor to the Electric Slide. I was lousy at that dance too.

Actually White folks enjoy doing the Electric Slide. It is almost like a form of Square Dancing for them. The Black Achy Breaky Heart.

Back in elementary school we were taught to square dance. I was pretty good at it maybe because I was so young. Later on when the Hustle came out I actually mastered that dance. I realized that if I did not learn to do the Hustle going to the club would be no fun! Also being drunk helped. Yes for some reason drinking improved my dancing abilities. Hmmm….I don’t drink anymore. Maybe that’s why everything has gone downhill.

I'll get out there on the dance floor but never do those line dances like the Electric Slide. I always seem to be going the wrong way. Even the Cha cha Slide where the guy tells you to hop two times, turn left, then right... Well forget it. I have no coordination whatsoever.

If I ever get married I'll have to take dance lessons for the Reception! LOL!

Believe it or not I was in the US Army from 1977 until 1981. Coordination and agility was forced upon me. When that drill sergeant calls cadence you had better be in step! Soldier, your military left!

However in recent years my few dancing skills have reverted back to that Seinfeld episode where the character played by Julia Louis- Dreyfus, Elaine dances or attempts to dance. Kind of looks like she's having a seizure. In my case maybe I could play it off and say I'm doing a new version of the Robot!!

I attempted the Soulja Boy in the privacy of my apartment. My cat ran and hid in the closet.

Seriously though for exercise I'm considering taking up African Dance. However if I do this I should probably forewarn the instructor. She will be cringing or laughing in addition to my African and Native American ancestors in Heaven!
At least I never have to worry about being chosen for Dancing with the Stars!
So You Think You Can Dance. Not!
