Sisters Sledge, 'We Are Family' (358 hits)

We are all family here & families do have their share of fights but families do kiss & make up when everything is said and done. What am I saying here? Let's Learn as Family to Agree to Disagree on Issues because no two people will see things the same way. I remember going to the movie theater to see Forest Whitaker in 'Vantage Point' because the movie explains how we as humans view things depending on where we are on the food chain or where we are in our lives. I encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to watch it. It is definitely worth it if you like action & suspense movies. My husband was on the edge of his seat & let me add he usually goes to sleep at most movie theaters! LOL

I think we should be kind to one another especially since there are more than enough forces in the world that are unkind to women. We must be kind to one another regardless to our various backgrounds, opinions, differences, & most importantly regardless to whether or not we see from the other’s vantage point. I tell my girlfriend all the time, "Chris I will agree to disagree with you on that issue" & according to my friend, she thinks the world of me for being able to do this. It takes a 'big person' to be able to express a differing opinion & still at the end of the day be able to be in harmony w/out animosity against the other person.

As black women, the fight is not against one another & it has never been. Our fight is for better paying jobs, quality health care, better schools for our children, decent & affordable housing, & drug free neighborhoods. I hate bickering today as much as I hated it back in the day between black women. We need to try to talk to one another in such a way that we can learn to agree to disagree w/out name calling. In the words of the Sisters Sledge song, "We are Family..." LOL

My sisters what do you say to this?

Totally agree. Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean that you have to disrespect that person or put that person down. I wish as black women we were more kind and supportive of each other.
