You Are the Ringmaster of Your Circus Thoughts (2423 hits)
Our friend Johnathan was in town and invited us to see the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Johnathan is the super talented ringmaster who is the youngest and the only African-American Ringmaster in the 150-year history of the circus. He sings and performs 450 shows a year in the United States and Mexico not only for families, but dignitaries and presidents.
We've been bugging him to write his autobiography, knowing he is an inspiration having started his career as a member of The Boys Choir of Harlem circling the globe. What a story if he will just sit down and write it. (Did you read that Johnathan??)
Anyway, we went to the circus. Walter (hubby), our oldest son and I. Three grown adults, deeply engaged and enjoying the performances just like the kids who sat around us.
After the show, we met with Johnathan catching up on our lives.
Later, that evening, I thought about how our thoughts are the circus going on in our minds. Like the acts with flashing lights and booming music, our thoughts constantly are performing in our heads.
Some of our thoughts are scary like the trainer in the cage directing the big cats.
Some of our thoughts are funny and distracting like the clowns rolling on the ground.
Other thoughts are often intense with worry, like the performers walking the tightrope. We wonder if they are going to make it in our life goals or through challenges.
