About the Position:


The purpose of the Assistant Director of Student Financial Services is to ensure efficient and effective delivery of financial aid to all eligible students and responsibility for the daily operations, training and supervision of Student Financial Services staff involved in the awarding and delivery of financial aid.  The delivery includes but is not limited to the development, maintenance and assessment of all financial aid computerized systems while providing excellent customer service to all students and maintain fluid communication between staff and administration both inside and outside the department.  The focus of the position is to create a positive work environment on the Lakeland campus and affiliated centers while providing a visionary approach toward improvement of technology based services and personnel services.


Essential Functions/Duties:  



  • Provide leadership in assessing financial aid information on the Internet, and maintenance of a user-friendly Website.  This may include providing expert technical assistance and leadership to institutional units that are jointly responsible for the development as well as overseeing the management of information for both the staff and the student.

  • Direct and supervise the daily awarding operation and coordination of financial aid services, including the supervision of customer service assistants, processing assistants and veterans services assistants.

  • Counsel and advise students, parents, community and other constituents on financial aid process and procedures with respect to FERPA.

  • Increase awareness of financial aid changes, deadlines, and important information circulation through developing presentations, workshops, and publications in conjunction with on-campus and off-campus participation and coordinating with high school guidance counselors.

  • Develop and implement the planning, writing, implementation, training and communication of financial aid rules and procedures.  Assist with the development of departmental policies, procedures and manuals.  Provide departmental support in identifying and solving system based problems.

  • Maintain current knowledge of all changes made in the federal, state and institutional regulations pertaining to, effecting and involving the Office of Student Financial Services.

  • Assist the Director with the management, implementation and maintenance of federal, state, institutional and private financial aid programs.

  • Assist the Director with the completion of state and federal financial aid reports as well as the establishment of financial aid parameters for the equitable distribution of financial aid to all students.

Qualifications & Requirements

  1. The ability to maintain an effective rapport with College personnel.

  6. Extensive knowledge and experience utilizing integrated computerized systems.

  7. Proficient in use of MS Office Word and Excel software.

  8. Ability to produce, analyze and utilize complex data and reports.

  9. Ability to maintain confidential information.

  10. Maintain professional appearance.


Required Education:


A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or equivalent) is required.


 

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience in student financial services or a relevant area is required.
