THE ROLE
The Special Work Assignment Travel Team (SWATT) is a DMV initiative to support our agency workforce across the State of Connecticut. The SWATT was created in 2019 with the goal of helping our various branches maintain appropriate staffing levels, strictly on a temporary and as-needed basis, when our team takes a vacation or is out sick. Location assignments can be planned in advance, or a SWATT staff member could learn about their location assignment the day of, depending on agency needs. You will be assigned a location based on your application preferences, but may be asked to work in other locations as needed. SWATT Branch locations include Bridgeport, Hamden, New Britain, Norwich and Wethersfield. Overtime may be required, and incumbents must be willing to travel to other DMV locations. We encourage applicants to select all areas they are both interested in and commutable to. Employees who are part of SWATT receive mileage reimbursement for their travel.
The Motor Vehicle Examiner within SWATT can expect to work in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of customer contact and money handling. We are looking for detail-oriented people with excellent customer service skills. These positions will assist with the initial intake of customers and will perform a range of motor vehicle transactions and should be proficient with operating computer systems.
