Instructor, Education (Part-Time)
This posting is an applicant pool for both in-person and online learning opportunities across all three of our campuses located in Fort Collins, CO (Larimer Campus), Longmont, CO (Boulder County Campus), and Westminster, CO (Westminster Campus).

Who We Are
With three campuses along Colorado’s Front Range, Front Range Community College (FRCC) is the state’s largest community college. We enroll close to 28,000 students annually from our diverse service area, which offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Each year approximately 5,000 FRCC students transfer to four-year universities. FRCC offers more than 36 career training programs that prepare students for immediate employment and rewarding careers. Last year, more than 5,000 high school students took concurrent enrollment classes with us, earning college credit without having to pay college tuition. And we were recently ranked as one of the “Top Online Colleges” in the country by Newsweek.

Who You Are
As a part-time instructor in the Education Department, you will provide instruction in all levels of education, including developmental and/or transfer levels. Course assignments will be made based on experience.

You will work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success is your top priority. You will utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

You may be asked to teach at different times, locations and modalities to meet the needs of the College.

Some of the specific course you may be assigned to include:

EDU 2088 Practicum II (1 Credit): Provides students with the opportunity to supplement coursework with practical work experience related to their educational program. Students work under the immediate supervision of experienced personnel at the education facility and with the direct guidance of the instructor.

EDU 2211 Introduction to Education (3 Credits): Focuses on the historical, social, political, philosophical, cultural, and economic forces that shape the United States public school system. This course includes current issues of education reform, technology as it relates to education, and considerations related to becoming a teacher in the state of Colorado. The course addresses diversity in the preschool through secondary school system.

EDU 2341 Multicultural Education (3 Credits): Explores racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic groups to gain an understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion in communities and education. This course provides opportunities to contextualize multicultural perspectives in society and their impact on the education system.

EDU 2401 Teaching Exceptional Learners (3 Credits): Focuses on learners with exceptionalities with emphasis on factors relating to current practices, identification, characteristics, and educational adaptations in special education preschool to 21 (P-21). Course topics include issues related to mild disabilities, severe disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, intellectual disabilities, and gifted and talented.

EDU 2611 Teaching, Learning and Technology (3 Credits): Explores integration of technology instruction into teaching practices used in preschool through postsecondary (P-21) educational settings for all curriculum areas of content. This course reviews a variety of technologies with an emphasis on increasing student learning and retention of knowledge. The course also explores combining technology with several instructional methodologies to promote professional teacher dispositions related to technology-rich teaching.

SELECTION PROCESS: This is an open talent pool with a strong need for Spring 2025. Applicants will be contacted based on the needs of the College.

Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate. Completed application package includes:
A resume;

A letter of interest;
A copy of official transcripts;
A one-page statement of your teaching philosophy; and
A list of courses and the semesters you have taught.

SALARY: The pay range for Part-Time Instructors varies, depending on the type of course, the contact ratio and contact hours. Please refer to our Part-Time Instructor Pay Matrix (Download PDF reader) for detailed information.

BENEFITS: Part-Time Instructors will have their hours measured on an annual basis to determine eligibility to enroll in medical health insurance only for the following benefit period. (See: Instructor & Variable Hour Employee Benefit Information).

Qualifications
Required Education/Training & Work Experience:

Master's degree in Education or a related degree.
OR
Master's degree in any field plus 18 graduate credit hours in Education.

Related Degrees: Early Childhood Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Administrative Leadership & Policy Studies, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, Multi-cultural Education, Cross-cultural Education, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology.
