Job Description

As part of ETís new, growing SDN/Network Engineering team, the Senior Network Engineer will enable a next-generation network infrastructure that will support Student Success Initiatives, Universal Learners, Smart Campus and many more.

You will be responsible for designing and deploying an automated, scalable, resilient network infrastructure for our Campus, Research, Core and WAN environments. This new infrastructure will not only serve to provide increased bandwidth and throughput, but will also transform the way we deploy and manage the infrastructure by leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time

Salary Range: $86,400 - $162,000 per year; DOE

Close Date: 19-October-2022 is the initial close date. Applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed every 2 weeks until the position is filled.

Essential Duties

Design, implement, and maintain automated network solutions at the campus scale including configuration validation, task orchestration, and failover strategies.
Validate design recommendations in a state-of-the-art networking laboratory.
Interface with operations teams to understand evolving customer needs and adapt quickly to changing technologies.
Perform advanced troubleshooting to resolve network issues at the campus/WAN scale including port channels, routing, VXLAN, and firewalls.
Generate network/system design drawings and documentation.
Follow the Agile/Scrum methodology practiced within ET and participate in team process activities.
Foster interdisciplinary knowledge development and sharing between software engineering and wired/wireless networking professionals.
Collaborate with diverse teams of internal engineers and external vendors to understand and participate in the full networking ecosystem at ASU
Contribute to architectural and code review discussions that impact our engineering ecosystem.
Contribute to the coaching and professional development of junior team members.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelorís degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five yearsí of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

Skills and experience in the design, configuration and management of the following technologies:
Network topology standards (Spine/Leaf, Core/Distribution/Access, Ring, Mesh)
Network virtualization (MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, SDN)
Dynamic routing protocols
NGFW, Load Balancers and other network security/infrastructure appliances
Circuit/ISP connectivity
Segmentation/Security Strategies
Multicast routing
Deep knowledge of Networking layers 1-4
Large scale Zero Touch Provisioning
Arista, Cisco, Palo Alto, F5 platforms
Automation/orchestration tools (Python, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with change management practices
Experience mapping compliance requirements and maintaining adherence to CIS Controls, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and regulations such as FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI DSS
Proficiency on Linux platforms
Experience/familiarity with log/machine data aggregation and analysis tools (e.g., Splunk, Elasticsearch, Kibana)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems
Experience/familiarity with Agile methodologies
Experience/familiarity with Scrum Product Owner responsibilities and best practices
Experience working with internal groups and outside vendors to collaborate on projects, problem solve, or design solutions to technical issues
Demonstrable talent producing infrastructure and software/systems architecture diagrams and documentation
Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
Experience working in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
