Medical Assistant 2
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Medical Assistant 2 to work on the UHealth Campus. The Medical Assistant 2 performs a variety of routine duties in a hospital or clinic to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
Kendall OBGYN Practice, with possible floating to other sites when needed
Obtains vital signs and patient information for inclusion in the patient's medical record.
Assist attending physicians with minor surgical procedures, annual and follow up gynecological exams such as pap-smears, cultures, endometrial biopsies and pelvic exams.
Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed (will be trained on proper disinfection of any applicable instruments and disinfecting rooms in between patients).
Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of relevant experience is preferred.
Medical Assistant Certification required
Certified by the AAMA, NHA or Registered must be obtained within one year of hire
American Heart Association CPR/BLS Certification
HIV Certification
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
