CFA Caseworker
Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Caseworker position within their Critical Financial Assistance Program in San Antonio, TX.

The CFA Caseworker will provide basic case management to military families requesting critical financial assistance with focus on routine/normative requests, financial situations and client characteristics as identified by program management. This position interviews clients to determine assistance needs and verifies and determines eligibility based on guidelines set forth by Operation Homefront.

Typical duties include:

⦁ Provides crisis intervention services and connects service members with other resources / referrals as needed

⦁ Creates, updates, and maintains records on case actions, including actions taken with clients and families, records required for follow-up with clients and those needed for operational and/or audit purposes

⦁ Interviews clients to conduct needs assessments, reviews financial information, gathers supporting documentation and assesses client requests for program eligibility

⦁ Communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, including case documentation, email and phone communications and assists clients with completing applications as needed

⦁ Partners with clients while providing assistance, including keeping clients updated on case status and approval / denial decisions, aiding clients in negotiating with vendors and creditors and maintaining a focus on client empowerment throughout the assistance process

⦁ Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time and streamline work process and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service

⦁ Explains program services guidelines in a clear, accurate, and friendly manner to clients, maintains confidentiality of records and information

⦁ Special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
⦁ Bachelorís degree in Social Services, Counseling, or related field. Masterís degree is preferred

⦁ 1 year of experience providing case management, public assistance and/or military services is desired

⦁ Knowledge of principles in the field of social services, counseling and financial planning and the ability to apply them exercising sound business judgments with limited or no supervision

⦁ Experience with military families, wounded warriors and military service programs is strongly preferred

⦁ Non-profit experience is preferred

⦁ Strong skills in MS Office, especially in Excel, Outlook, and Word
