The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.

The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.

The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.

The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.

Group Description

The Consumer Business Data Leader (BDL) organization within Data Management & Insights (DMI) provides business enablement and relationship management across multiple Wells Fargo lines of business including Home Lending, Auto, Cards, Deposits, Personal Lines and Loans. This organization also governs and manages two data domains and leads the development and operation of the domain Authorized Provisioning Points (APP) for data. 

Position Overview

The Consumer APP Product Area Owner is an individual contributor that will be responsible for delivering the strategic Authorized Provisioning Point for one or more data domains. The Product Area Owner leads the development of APPs including Retail Lending and Deposits. The APP lead will drive the definition of strategy and the implementation of an APP in support of business needs across the enterprise. This position will also have responsibility for on-going business operations of the APP which includes maintaining compliance with EDG Policy, Information Security Policy and any other strategies and policies that are applicable. 

This role will partner heavily with DMI Data Management Solutions (DMS), all Business Data Leaders (BDLs), Wells Fargo Technology (WFT) and LOB SMEs to refine data requirements and translate business needs into required designs for APP implementation. 
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop solution strategies for the APP with associated timing and roadmaps in partnership with business initiative teams and WFT partners.
  • Drive sourcing, conformance, curation, and testing of data sets brought into the APP partnering with WFT and source applications
  • Lead sessions with appropriate SMEs to document business requirements for data to be conformed in the APP
  • Identify “appropriate” sources of data to be sourced into APP in partnership with data source ABOs/SMEs
  • Support definition of logical conformed data model, leveraging cross-APP guidance for consistency
  • Develop logic to map upstream data sources into a conformed model in partnership with data source ABOs/SMEs
  • Support UAT execution to ensure data is conformed correctly in alignment with business requirements
  • Maintain awareness of cross-functional activities and how they impact Data Management Solutions (DMS) and Wells Fargo Technology (WFT)
  • Leads design and delivery of product area. 
  • Manages all aspects of product ownership including (but not limited to): Process design, configuration design, product backlog management, enhancement evaluation, service delivery and reporting
  • Functions as stakeholder-facing Product Owner who can synthesize requirements and drive analysis with appropriate questions supported by workflow documents, scenario analysis and wireframes (as appropriate)
  • Prioritizes stories based on themes and epics while managing backlog
  • Ensures development focuses on JIRA’s with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Works closely with engineering management to estimate effort, set scope and define timelines for all new development initiatives
  • Partners with other Product Owner’s within and across product lines to drive efficiency and consistency and collaborate to meet measurable organizational outcomes
  • Proactively leads and delivers on each sprint throughout the agile lifecycle of a product or customer 

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: data management, data governance, data quality or data analysis demonstrated through work or military experience
  • 3+ years of Agile experience
  • 2+ years of product management experience
  • 2+ years of JIRA experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools
  • 3+ years of data warehouse experience
  • 3+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
  • 3+ years of experience in data management related areas such as metadata or lineage, data governance or data quality
  • 3+ years of risk identification and documentation experience
  • 3+ years of banking industry experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading the requirement design process with both technical and business partners

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to dissect technical problems, analyze data, and recommend potential solutions
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to meet changing business needs

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred Domain Knowledge: 2 years or combination of: Consumer Lending, Auto, Retail Lending, Home Lending, Credit Cards, Deposits
  • Experience creating strategic plans for enterprise wide business initiatives.
  • Experience defining, documenting, and implementing business requirements, policies, procedures and processes.
  • Driven, confident, organized and an accomplished problem solver
  • Ability to understand banking business processes and objectives to enable successful implementation of business growth and efficiency initiatives supported by data and analytics.
  • Experience with data management best practices and disciplines including data governance, data architecture, data quality, analytics and business intelligence
  • Experience with data profiling and data mapping activities
  • Experience with agile/kanban project methodology and activities, as well as build and release management in software development lifecycles (SDLC) 
  • Understanding of regulatory report requirements and data requirements for data conformance and curation of downstream use cases
  • Able to partner and work effectively with all levels in an organization
