35025 - Librarian
The Librarian provides operational support to the Direct Care & Treatment division of the Department of Human Services. The Librarian is an expert in the organization and distribution of a wide variety of literature or other materials to be used for analyses and research as well as reporting on the types and sources of requests received. In this role, the Librarian supports clinical and programming staff and maintaining a complex inventory matrix of databases. The Librarian regularly interacts with a variety of stakeholders including treatment practitioners, doctors, and researchers within Direct Care & Treatment. The Librarian also responds to lending requests from librarians worldwide.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Researching, retrieving, and distributing information from the library consortiums and online databases in response to article and literature search requests
Managing subscriptions and vendor contracts to ensure library accesses are not suspended
Maintaining the Database Inventory Matrix, including permission levels, to organize resources in response to department needs and providing information to the librarys customers
Developing and maintaining a database which tracks data requests
Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Working knowledge of library classification system(s), standard library reference tools, and web-based library search practices after system(s) sufficient to assist clients in locating materials and conducting research
Apply and support detailed coding or cataloging systems sufficient to create tracking for new print and non-print library acquisitions and locate and replace existing materials
Operate personal computers, use various software and web-based applications, and other office equipment sufficient to locate catalog information, word-process documents, complete forms and prepare reports
Communicate effectively orally and in writing sufficient to determine and respond to the informational needs of clients of varied educational levels and backgrounds; to train, direct and evaluate work of student clerical staff; and to assist the professional library staff to maintain the library collection according to library policy and procedures
Experience providing inter-library loan services to treatment providers and researchers that demonstrates
o Data collection, analysis and report creation
o Budget management to include subscriptions, requests for purchase and annual budgets
o Utilizing computer applications systems such as Avatar, Access, Excel, OneNote, SharePoint, Minittab, and Crystal Reports to produce queries and reports and develop and enter information
